More Weekend Work

Today we have been married 4 months. I really can't believe how fast time is flying by. It's amazing to see how far the house is coming along. Last week we finished painting the foyer. The color is not that different from the previous color, but it is enough of a change to look different from the room next to it.

Welcome to our home!

Here are some of the other projects we worked on:
I used the old curtain for a pattern

All done!
Clay worked on hanging hooks
We also decided to paint our dining room furniture. We got the furniture from an estate sale this summer. My grandparents bought it for us as one of our wedding gifts. We have enjoyed the furniture when we have people over. However, Clay and I both wanted an updated look. So we researched some different ideas and bought the paint. This is the beginning of the process:
I took the seats off first
I am going to recover the seats

we are leaving the top of the table the natural color

Paint finished - ready for the glaze
Clay also finished working on our shower, it's almost all done! I will post about that big project when he puts the glass doors back on. This weekend is my birthday so I think we are going to take a break from house work- However, I bet you could find both of us with paint brushes in our hands on Sunday anyway.

Long Weekend= Lots of Projects

This weekend we decided to stay home and start some new projects around the house. We started the laundry room over New Years- This is how it started..

When Clay Moved In..
My Dad and Brother built these shelves
I painted the doors

Almost done

Clay is in the laundry room now hanging the doors. We painted the wall a green color that was left over from Clay's office. My brother and Clay also put in carpet tiles, which makes the room complete.

The next project we worked on was the dining room. We have been waiting to paint it until we had the time. Well this weekend was the perfect time. We took down the fan after Clay moved in.

Clay working hard- I promise I painted too

almost done!

 The material for the curtains

This week I plan on sewing the curtains. They will just be simple curtains. We are also going to re-finish the furniture and buy a new light fixture.

Another project I worked on this weekend is a mirror for the foyer. Mom and I were shopping for one the other week and they averaged $40 for the size I wanted. Then mom went to Goodwill and found this beauty..

The mirror

Only $5.05

1st I painted it red

all done
We painted it black after we painted it red. The table in the foyer is black when a hint of red in some areas. After we finish painting the foyer we will hang it up!

Overall it was a great weekend! We worked really hard but got a lot done around the house. I am so sore from all the prepping/painting but it was worth it. I am thankful that Clay enjoys fixing the house because it is something fun we can do together.

Another step almost completed to making this house our home.

2011 in Review

Welcome to our blog! I decided since life has settled down a bit from a busy past year I would start a blog to keep track of all our hard work on making this house into our home. Clay bought this house  December 2010. We had been looking at houses for over a year and this is the one God brought us to!
Our Home
Shortly after buying the house I graduated with my Masters. Then Christmas Eve came and I got this surprise...
Engagement in Auburn, AL

Then January brought this fun to Georgia.. Auburn won the National Championship and I got a whole week off of work. However, Clay didn't have the best week he broke his ankle and had to get 6 screws put in.
Snow Storm Jan. 2011
We ended up having a great spring and summer getting ready for our wedding.
Engagement Pictures at Hyde Farm

Then the fall brought this amazing day!! After 9 years of dating we said "I do"!! All of our closest family and friends helped us celebrate such a special day.

We have been blessed beyond measure in 2011. God taught us so much throughout Clay's surgery, my small car wreck, having to buy a new car, planning a wedding, getting married, moving in together, home ownership, and being newlyweds. One thing that was evident was God's perfect timing and provision over our lives and for that I wouldn't change a thing.  I have a feeling 2012 will be another great year.
